How to Install Flagstone Pavers

1. Prepare the Base
Clear the area of grass, roots, or debris.
Dig down about 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) for pathways, 15–20 cm (6–8 inches) for driveways.
Make sure the ground slopes slightly away from buildings for drainage.
2. Add the Base Layer
Spread a layer of crushed gravel or road base about 8–15 cm thick.
Compact it with a plate compactor until firm and level.
3. Add a Bedding Layer
Spread 2–4 cm of coarse sand or stone dust on top.
This layer helps you adjust the stones for height and stability.
4. Lay the Stones
Start from one corner or edge.
Place the largest stones first, then fill in with smaller pieces.
Rotate each piece to find the best fit-like a puzzle.
Keep joints tight but leave enough space (1–3 cm) for jointing material.
5. Fill the Gaps
For walkways: Sweep sand or stone dust into the gaps, then water lightly.
For driveways: Use mortar or polymeric sand for extra strength.
6. Compact and Finish
Tap stones gently with a rubber mallet to set them.
Check for stability-no rocking stones should be left.
Rinse off dust with a hose.
